Birding: Waterfowl Watching at Northerly Island

Late-fall through spring is waterfowl season at Northerly Island! Join us as we walk Northerly Island and Burnham Harbor looking for water-loving migrants like mergansers, diving ducks, swans, geese, gulls and more.

This gathering is for first-time birders, long-time birders and anyone interested in learning more about the waterfowl migration in Chicago. Participants in this event will be introduced to basic waterfowl birding techniques, common waterfowl species to look for, as well as explore different points of interest at Northerly Island and meet other birders. Binoculars and bird guides are available for registered participants. This is a free event.
